Violoncello instrumental course

The instrumental course for Violoncello is mainly addressed to participants aged over 16 years, who attend violoncello lessons for at least 4 years now.

Achieving progress in technique and in music as well as creating a climate which enables the effective study to be pleasant and profitable at the same time, is the main purpose of this course. Pieces of advice about proper body position, a solution to technical problems, development of a finer touch sensibility and a dialectical analysis of various approaches of interpretation are embodied to our teaching pursuits.

The mental planning and discovering of the “suitable”, for each piece, sound, the growing and expanding of personal music horizons, the searching and applying of complex interpreting approaches, an introduction to special techniques used in the Baroque or contemporary music, pieces of advice about quick by heart learning of music pieces and playing without use of score are additional parts of our lessons.

Repertoire knowledge, advice about correct practicing, relaxed playing and further discussions about general musical or specialised cello topics shall complete the course concept.

Participants of this course can take Ensemble as activity, free of charge.

Cello players, preparing an examination, competition or an orchestra audition – tryout are also welcome.

Persons mainly interested in chamber music or ensemble can register either in this course, by choosing Ensemble or chamber music as main subject.

We would kindly request participants wanting to present pieces with piano accompaniment (with our course lecturers, a student participating in piano accompaniment course or with other participants also wanting to attend our chamber music courses) to send us the piano scores, in form of pdf file, at the registration time or, at latest, two (2) months before courses begin.

Cellists are kindly requested to bring along an appropriate end spin or spike holder.

In case you register in order to prepare an ABRSM examination, please define the intended examinations level (grade).

Due to the limited number of participants in every class (15), we strongly recommend as quick a registration as possible.
